Now McDyess would be great. They'd be a beast on the boards.

the value of Sheed on the Magic is depriving opponents of the ability to deploy Sheed against Howard.

The Magic's problem is that awful contract they gave to the Rich Man's Pat Garrity.

Yeah, Orlando's going to have an interesting summer. Hedo's going to get paid, but they really need to keep him since he's their best playmaker. Still, that's a lot of $$ for him and Lewis.

Wih a tough big, Dwight can keep from getting into foul trouble guarding Gasol, or leave Gasol open to help on Kobe.

Jeff I hope you are right that where ever Sheed goes he hurts our rivals but I don't want to be the one who told you so that adding sheed puts them over the top and screws us over in a series.

What control do we have over it anyway? He goes where he goes.

I'm just tired of everyone talking about how great Sheed would be everywhere. Who cares. I want to know how WE are going to get better... Fuck Sheed and his over-the-hill demand for $7 million.

I was so wrong. The freaking Orlando pretty much folded down like a house made of carts, at the sight of first difficulty (i.e., after the 3rd Quarter). It was one of the least interesting series during this playoffs.

Why on earth is R.lewis slated to earn $18-23M per season over the next several years.

Who the hell signed off on that?

Well Orlando decided to over pay to become respectable and it helped get them to the finals. Lets not forget all the big playoff shots he hit this playoff run.

By the way, about 2-3-2 format, it seems to me that 2-2-1-1-1 benefits the team with teh home court a bit less. So, its' a bit more fair (it's just too hard to win thre games in a row, even at home).

I bet that, originally, the main reason was economic, probably to avoid the extra travel. But, if that's the case, why will not they adopt the same format in conference playoffs? Also, sometimes the distance within teh conference is as big (or bigger) as thedistance between teams belonging to different conferences. On the top of it, these days, every team has a plane. And many coaches openly beach about 2-3-2.

So, why will not they return to a more fair format?

Detroit won all three at home. If Orlando performs better in the clutch, they win the series (IMO).

Agreed,

This wasn't a 5 game sweep. Orlando could be up 3-2 going back to LA if they could close better.

True (about Detroit), and I agree (about Orlando).

Still, my point is that you want to make the series as even as possible. You do not want to put on a team an extra burden. Yet, forcing one team to play 3 games in a row at home seems to me to put just such an extra burden on that team. So, why not to change back to the original 2-2-1-1-1 system.

By the way, I know it would not matter about the last series. So, I guess, I' posing a more general "philosophical" question. .

I don't think that's true. If so, they'd play games at a neutral site like football (though that's impractical for 7 games) and make sure both teams got a certain threshold of rest before the series.

The team that wins more games gets the advantages, whatever they are. I don't think the 2-3-2 is particularly insurmountable. If fact in this series, if Orlando takes that 2nd game in LA and the overtime in Orlando, they have an incredible chance to close it out in Orlando having only had to play 2 games there. Under the 2-2-1-1-1 Orlando would have to have played 3 games in LA (and the close out game would have been in LA).

(And there's no doubt in my mind that Laker team, Kobe in particular, self-destructs just like in 04)

The neutral side is not practical for the reason of generating revenue, too -- the games are sold out during playoffs. I'm not sure they would eb sold out, if the games were played on the neautral court.

"I don't think the 2-3-2 is particularly insurmountable." Sure, you can overcome it (an example is Heat; also, to some extent, the Pistons). I think it's more difficult for the team playing 3 in a row at home than the other arrangement would be.

So, I was wondering, is the economic gain big enough to give one team that extra edge. If yes, why not the same format in the earlier rounds?

I guess it depends on what kind of carts we are talking about here, as some can be quite sturdy.

He locks it down for the Haikus. He goes about his business a little more casually here....or does a few shots.

Not that I mind that you guys have fun with it (for it clearly is a good natured fun). But, to put one thing in context, I'm slightly dyslexic. I just do not freaking see certain reverasls of characters and so on (not to mention that I do not remeber well what the words are supposed to look like). Fixing it takes lots of effort and time. Sometimes I try to do it. Sometimes I just do not have time for it. (All of this on the top of English being my second language.)

Also, thank a lot for the haiku prop.

Don't worry about it -- I'm sure no-one cares if you have a couple misplaced letters.

I'd trade my spelling for your poetry any day.
