I surely hope we get better than that for Rip. Maybe Curry and a 1st. Would Curry even suit up for a game? Would we keep him around to just make Fat Joe look better?

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I saw conflicting reports about that trade. I have no idea what if any picks were swapped. It does say on nbadraft.net that there is indeed a 2011 swap of picks, and a 2012 pick top-5 protected. Well, that was a really stupid deal. Last edited by Kstat; 07-19-2010 at 06:27 PM. |

He is also a decent finisher. His presence would make it a little easier to trade Stuckey. That being said, our priority remains a legitimate defensive center. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | The absolute last thing we need is another 2 guard. We started the off season needing a pg and 2 bigs. We drafted 1 big who looks solid. We still need another big and pg. Any move we make has to get us closer to filling those 2 holes. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | Do not they consider White as a possible back up PG (rather than a SG)? So, Scrabble would not compete with him for playing time. BTW, there is no need for scrabble here. We have already too many SGs. |

: 0 For This Post 1 Total | Okay, here's a 3-way that looks pretty good for us at least and I think works well for Denver and NY....at least I'll make that argument. We trade Rip to Denver and get Ty Lawson and Eddy Curry with his expiring contract. Denver trades Ty Lawson, JR Smith and Renaldo Balkman and gets Rip. NY trades Eddy Curry and gets JR Smith & Renaldo Balkman. We get a PG and a slug of a back-up center who may or may not play but still frees up cap space at the end of the year. Denver gets a solid 2, who would instantly mesh with their team. They're probably only going to have a couple of more productive years out of Billups and Lawson is not guaranteed to be a stud PG to pass the torch to (he does look solid, though). They also may be tired of JR's hot and cold streaks and just brought in Al Harrington, who provides the same kind of scoring off the bench. They are already bringing back Anthony Carter so they have a back-up PG but AA could maybe get minutes backing up both guard spots. Balkman is just a throw in. I don't know if he was a fan favorite in NY or not but at least he's a familiar face and a hustle guy. NY gets another scorer and gives up nothing other than cap space. There's no guarantee that they can bring in 2 stars next summer so at least you make this year's team more dangerous and still have space to sign one top guy next year. Smith is a chucker who might get 20+ PPG under D'Antoni plus maybe he'll remind people of John Starks. Trade ID Trade ID #5626610 Quote:

Rip, Tay, Bayless, Pryz, Bynum, Walton Lakers Get Rip, Pryz Portland gets Tay Walton Wilcox Detroit gets Bynum and Bayless. This trade works for every body. Though salaries need to be adjusted to make it work. But still I kick ass. |

: 0 For This Post 1 Total | If the lakes were thinking about getting a return of Bosh for Bynum, I doubt they'd bite on that offer. They probably still want more or would be just as happy seeing if he can finally stay healthy for a year. If he can, there's no reason he can't be a 15/10/2 center.

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I'd trade Rip for cap space and a first round pick. I would hope it doesn't come to that, but that extension is just a killer. Absolutely agree with Hobbs that for this team to move forward, they need to clear out the logjam and get pieces that fit together. |

Here is my prediction of minutes with the likely roster being healthy: Stuckey 35 Gordon 30 Rip 30 Bynum 15 Tay 30 Jerebko 25 Ben/Wilcox 30 Villa 22 Maxiell 13 Daye 10 Monroe 10 Here is the same roster removing Rip: Stuckey 35 Gordon 35 Bynum 15 Tay 30 Jerebko 30 Ben/Wilcox 30 Villa 25 Maxiell 15 Daye 20 Monroe 15 I think both these teams win a similar number of games, but the second group makes much more progress towards the development of our future core AND there is better chemistry as fewer good players are competing for the PT. | |

: 0 For This Post 1 Total | Either Rip or BG is fine with me. If Gordon gets you more value then let him be the guy. Other than a good October/early November and April(when we didn't need it), he didn't do much at all. December was okay and Jan.-March were putrid. He averaged under 10 ppg and shot well under 40%. A big time shooter that only shot 42% for the season from the field and 32% from 3. I know he was injured and maybe that's why he didn't do much for the first 34 games he was back but I also haven't grown attached to him.

Monroe gets more minutes because Rip is traded? I guess you are speculating that Daye will be getting minutes as our 4th or 5th SG. I think Monroe will be starting anyway. I don't see Rip going giving any extra burn to Monroe.
