| Sixth Man | Dumars might have held back on pursuing Cousins because he is in love with Prince, so it is quite understandable to compare our gimp with Cousins. |

: 0 For This Post 3 Total | Dumars could have had Cousins for Tayshaun and the number 7th pick. He had a private workout with the Pistons and Cousins WANTED to be a piston but the great Joe Dumars is so Obessed with Prince all-star potential and Monroe's (who did not play) potential athletic ability that he refused to make a deal. It could have been because Sacramento didn't include a box of Krispy Kreme donuts in the trade...we would never know. Cousins BTW 27mins 14pts 8rebs and 5 assist. Monroe DNP and he wasn't hurt. |

I for one think Sac saw exactly what we all saw, Cousins is a true low post big man with skills you don't find in centers these days and they weren't trading the pick for cap relief and an inferior prospect.

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | Perhaps not playing Monroe is a sign that Dumars is delusional about or chances to compete. That may logic out to not trading Prince. Also, interesting that Rip and Prince weren't on that big banner hung on the Palace. I don't know if I believe that Sac would have traded Cousins. This is akin to the rumors were Boozer was offerred to us and we passed. Also that we could have had Tyson Chandler in a sign-and-trade. You never know what to believe... |

They didn't have enough verification to report them, but they expressed this like it was known fact. |

: 0 For This Post 3 Total | Posted October 28, 2010 - 9:47 a.m. You have to wonder if rookie Greg Monroe will measure up By Vince Ellis Free Press Sports Writer NEW YORK - As usual when flying out of the Big Apple, the flight is delayed. So I figured now would be a good time to check in with the biggest development from Wednesday night. As you know, the Pistons dropped the season opener to the Nets by blowing a seven-point lead in the last 1:40 to fall, 101-98. Tough loss, but not exactly unexpected since it was a road game and the Nets were energized by playing the first game at the Prudential. And they will be much improved under first-year coach Avery Johnson. But with the Pistons struggling with the size of Brook Lopez and Derrick Favors for much of the evening, the team's biggest player didn't touch the floor. Pistons first-round pick Greg Monroe got a DNP-coach's decision, and it wasn't shocking for those who have been paying attention. From Pistons coach John Kuester's comments saying Monroe has to improve his motor, you could tell moments like Wednesday night would occur. A fellow scribe overheard Kuester imploring Monroe to run harder in the team's last preseason game. You have to wonder if Monroe will ever meet Kuester's demands because it's highly unlikely the skilled but laidback rookie from Georgetown will ever be described as high-energy. It's obviously a situation that bears watching. |

| Sixth Man | Yep, if Monroe isn't hustling he doesn't deserve PT, I don't blame coach for that and it will most likely teach him good habits that will pay off in the long run for the team. I suspect he will see some PT in the second game. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I'm not sure if he's an improvement at all.....He strikes me as another I'll play the vets at all costs to the detriment of ever developing young players.......The Pistons will go nowhere with this philosophy and this current roster.....Yeah if youre the Celtics, Heat, or Magic yo ucan take that approach, but when youre team is bottom 5 awful you get rid of aging vets and develop your young players......Sitting Monroe and playing guys that wont even be here next year does us no good at all.....They need to quit acting like this team is a championship contender and starting building for the future.....If this continues throughout the season then Monroe may very well be Dumars' last first round draft pick.....He's already ofer on top 10 picks one more and a bad season to boot could be it for him. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I response to my clasim that Q is a much better coach than Curry It depends. First, it may be a managerial decision. Say, Joe told Q to play them no matter what because they are featured before the trade. Also, it could be our team still looks for identity -- are we going to be an uptempo team (my pref with this personel)? Are we trying to control the tempo and grind? I do not knwo the team knows yey what they try to be. By the way, tehre is no comparison betwenn Rip and tay, on one hand, and Iverson on the other. R/T make mistakes, which is human. Iverson was a cancer. |

: 0 For This Post 3 Total | Yeah only a fool would pick Aldrich at 7 but I wouldn't mind Dumars trading down it get multiple picks. I just don't see Monroe doing anything. He didn't impress me in the summer league or pre season. He looks slow and confused. No wonder the Warriors was not impressed with him. |

I think the big shame-on-Joe move was drafting Monroe without a workout. I mean, Joe was even quoted post-draft as saying he wasn't worried about Monroe's toughness basically because "his college coach told me he was tough". Oh, really now??? Last edited by Forsh; 10-28-2010 at 09:14 PM.

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I think half the NBA was drafted without a workout session. Joe Dumars himself did not work out with the pistons prior to the 1985 draft. Jerry West had the opportunity to work out Kobe Bryant and declined. He said it was pointless. Last edited by Kstat; 10-28-2010 at 09:43 PM. |
