Totally agree. I don't think Hunter was ever consistent as an offensive player (man, he could lay some bricks on his jump shot) but one of the best on-the-ball defenders I've ever seen play the game. Easy guy to root for as he fit the blue-collar "Deeeetroit Basketballll" style of play.

He was aggressive as hell offensively as a rookie, wasn't he? Failure at the nuances of PG play seemed to wreck that.

Yeah, they tried to get him to be more than he was right away. And also he got swatted a hell of a lot that first season, too.

I remember he was super fast with his dribble, though. He really could move with the ball.

it was fun seein ghime eat up some points guards at times...I can remember him just really getting in some of the back up points heads...the guy from san Antonio comes to mind...hunter and james made it so pops did not use the guy much at all after that one game...

yeah...and they did something similarly to New Jersey....IIRC...they forced them to play Kidd for alot of minutes which wore him down and lessened his effectiveness late in games....
