So Now Houston has 12, 16, and 18! Would love to do 12 and 16 for number 9. Though its believed Houston is looking for the 5th overall.

Houston is killing their flexibility with all those 1st round draft picks.

I think I would do 9 for 12 and 18. There's a decent chance that one of PJIII, Moultrie, Sullinger, and Terrence Ross would be there at #18, although it sounds like Ross is rising lately.

That would give Houston 9 and 16, which maybe gets them up to 5 or 6.

For sure. I'd do that too. You could get Leonard and Sullinger even. Maybe.

So trading Dalembert was worth it just to get ahead of Phoenix? Somebody (maybe not Houston) wanted to be ahead of them . . .

If Houston can pull off the Howard trade, and that includes a pick they acquire from 5 to 8, Orlando would be all over Drummond.

Meanwhile, the bucks are now put of the picture for moving up ahead of us.

Phoenix was looking point guard last I heard. They still need wing players as well.

Also Kevin Martin doesnt not want to resign with Houston. As of now they really only have Dragic, Lowry, and Lee in the backcourt which is good. Now they add Livingston as well.

DraftExpress' current mock has Drummond falling to us. I'm not sure how long it has been that way, but I just noticed.

Just read the whole Simmons/Ford thing. The gulf in professionalism is startling. I'm glad, at least, that it isn't just the Pistons Simmons doesn't want to be thoughtful about. His homerism is getting worse and worse.

I wonder if this was written before the Bucks traded down?

Quote:
Milwaukee's two top targets

3:12PM ET
Milwaukee Bucks

The two players being linked to the Bucks most frequently in the 24 hours leading up to the draft are North Carolina power forward John Henson and Washington swingman Terrence Ross.
Neither are a sure thing to be there at No. 12, though, particularly Henson, who the Pistons are said to be considering at No. 9.
Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com reported last night that the Bucks are trying to move into the top 10 to get the lanky 6-foot-10 Henson. It's no secret that adding a big man is one of Milwaukee's top priorities, and Henson is one of the highest regarded bigs in the draft.
Meanwhile, our own NBA draft insider Chad Ford writes today that if Tyler Zeller is off the board, he believes the Bucks are "leaning toward Ross at No. 12." The 6-foot-6 swingman is thought to be a target for all of the teams in that No. 11-to-14 range (Portland, Milwaukee, Phoenix and Houston).

Didn't think Chandler was worth the #7 pick.

Quote:
Nuggets and Warriors talking deal

3:01PM ET
Denver Nuggets

UDPATE: Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group provides an update on today's hot rumor of Denver trading Wilson Chandler to Golden State for the No. 7 pick.
"I'm hearing the Warriors do like Wilson Chandler but don't believe he is worth the No. 7 pick so that deal is unlikely to happen," writes Thompson. "The Nuggets would have to take back Andris Biedrins or Richard Jefferson to make it worthwhile for the Warriors. However, if the Warriors trade down a bit, maybe to 12 or 14, that Chandler deal may be in play. That could be a high enough jump for Denver (#20) and the Warriors could still get someone they like at No. 20 -- whether Terrence Jones, Quincy Miller, Moe Harkless or even Festus Ezeli."
---
ESPN's Chris Broussard reports this morning that many teams are approaching Denver about acquiring their young players. Broussard writes that one deal that is being talked about is Wilson Chandler to the Warriors for the No. 7 pick.
If the Nuggets could pull this trade off, they'd get out from the 5-year, $37 million contract Chandler signed back in March, and have a chance to get a pretty good player via the draft pick. Which player and which position the Nuggets are looking at is the tricky part -- they are fairly set at each of the five starting spots as long as they resign JaVale McGee.
Damian Lillard will probably be off the board, but would No. 7 be too high to draft point guard Kendall Marshall? He's a player many believe is an Andre Miller clone who could team with fellow North Carolina product Ty Lawson in the Nuggets future backcourt. As far as big men go, Andre Drummond could be available and Meyers Leonard will likely be there. Both are 7-footers. But after that, No. 7 is considered too high of a spot to go for someone like forwards Terrence Jones, Arnett Moultrie or Perry Jones III.
We'll continue to keep an eye on this, and let you know if more comes of it.
- Joe Kaise

do not understand this....so you think that we will not make the playoffs next year add another high pick...then again have a top 8 pick player added to the roster and after all three of these lottery picks we will still stink enough to be in lottery and then Charlotte gets our unprotected pick....

IF that happens I will not be happy either but this trade will not be the main reason..

I really feel like the final 42 games the teams the Pistons was playing wer tanking on purpose so it made the Pistons look the they turned it around. Come on every team tried to lose who was lottery bound but the Pistons. They do this shit every year and it pisses me off. I am sick of being the 7th , 8 and 9th picks where teams with assets (rockets) who have draft picks to move up to snag Drummond or whoever. Detroit just traded away assets to get rid of mistakes. Now I KNOW we are getting scrubs (who Mn3 think is the next K.G.) in Henson and short arms Zeller. Meyers is not even on the Pistons radar. If Joe Dumars draft this guy henson, I am calling for his firing serious. He will be every krispy Kreme donut eating fat ass in the book.

I'll believe it when I see it. At this point, I'm conditioned to believe that Joe's basic instinct is to draft a combo guard whenever possible.

If a combo guard like Waiters or Lillard was available, he'd certainly have to consider it. Rivers.... not so much.

Waiters is too much like Rodney stuckey. Maybe a tad better spotting up, but the same good but not great explosiveness coupled with erratic shooting off the dribble.

Rivers fits the best of the three, but he's another guy that just wouldn't fit in here personality wise. He's a pampered ass clown that thinks he's the next Kobe when he should be shooting for being the next Brandon Roy.

I guess it would depend on what we got out of the Stuckey trade. An additional high draft pick to land a big man? Count me in.

Rivers seems like such a Golden State pick. I will be shocked if they don't take him.

The Freakanomics blog had an article about how Charlotte was a playoff team a few years ago and then blew it up by trading veterans for draft picks and absolutely destroyed its team because rookies generally get more minutes than they deserve and don't play at the level of a veteran.

Houston appears to be doing the same thing.

I like the Freakonomics guys, but they miss on stuff too. Charlotte made the playoffs becuase LB squeezed it out of them. Whether involving vets or picks, they've made dumb moves. You can't take a whole bunch of variables and cite only one as a catalyst unless you can argue why, for example, trading veterans for veterans in the Nazr deal, was a bad thing for them.

Thing about the combo-guard situation is either Joe doesn't do it, which is good, or he does and puts another nail in his coffin so to speak, which is painful now but just might be for the best in the long run. At this point, I'm pretty convinced that as the river(s) seek(s) the fastest path to the sea, Joe's natural orientation is to the combo guard. He's got this offseason and maybe next to show that he's still the same Joe.

Why do Aldrich have a job? Drummond is not dropping out of the lotter. He is not pasting pick 7.

From Chad Ford's newly updated mock draft:

Quote:
Sacramento

Andre Drummond
Position: C
Height: 7-foot-0
Weight: 279 pounds
Age: 18
School: UConn
Analysis: The Kings aren't in love with anyone here if this scenario plays out this way. Sources say that the Kings are still confident they'll make a deal with the Rockets (who covet Drummond). If they don't, sources say GM Geoff Petrie is now leaning toward taking Drummond over Barnes. He feels it's a more tradable chip down the road and the team needs a shot-blocker (the one thing Drummond does well now) next to DeMarcus Cousins.
Trade Scenarios: By now the whole world knows the Rockets are aggressively trying to move up and get this pick. Houston's latest offer (Kyle Lowry and the No. 16 pick) was rejected. But you can expect the Rockets to keep plugging away until they get something done. The Rockets aren't the only team trying to get here. The Lakers and Hawks have also tried to convince Sacramento to part with its pick.
Kings' Big Board:
1. Thomas Robinson
2. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
3. Andre Drummond
4. Harrison Barnes
5. John Henson
I think we could facilitate a trade between the Rockets and Kings. 12 and 18 probably gets us Leonard and one of PJIII, Moultrie, Sullinger, Terrence Ross, Moe Harkless. Heck, with Gordon going out, I wouldn't mind having Kendall Marshall at 18 as a backup pure point who can probably play with any of Stuckey, Knight, or Bynum.

Sacramento gets: 9 and 16

Houston gets: 5

Detroit gets: 12 and 18

Chad Ford ‏@chadfordinsider
I think the Pistons would likely take Drummond at 9 if he slides to them tonight.

Sources say that the Pistons flew to NY to see Andre Drummond workout on Tuesday evening just in case he slides to 9.

Now that Joe actually went to see a guy workout, he's guaranteed to not slide to us. He should have kept his old pattern alive. It worked with Moose and Knight.
