| Water Boy | Watch this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iio4w...ayer_embedded#! I'm second-guessing the Prince signing. I know Daye has some flaws - but he is still a project with HUGE upside. I would hate for us to trade him to Utah or somewhere and have him become a star there. Knight Stuckey Daye ????? Monroe Prince is 31 and I honestly would have rather had Daye starting this year. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | The only thing that video is evidence of is that Daye has accumulated 5 minutes worth of made shots over his 2 year career. You could put together a sizzle real for any player in the NBA. I don't understand the purpose of presenting it as if it's a convincing argument, you could just as easily make a 5 minute video of Daye's bricked shots and bone-headed plays. Trading Daye does not equal giving up on him. But if it nets us a quality big I would do it in the hottest of seconds, myself. Favors for Daye+? Yes, please. And it has the added benefit of squelching a season full of Mason screeching "Knight and Daye!" |

If it's for Memo I'll puke. If BG get's dealt for a big I'd be ecstatic. No knock on his game; $11 million is just way too much to pay him to come off the bench. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | AD is a unique talent and I would love to see if he can emerge......but I have a gut feeling he will never be more than some instant offense who will have hot streaks and be inconsistent at times. I don't live in Michigan and do not get to see him play enough to have a strong opinion though. If/when the Pistons return to contention I would see him as a nice piece, but replaceable. Getting a vet big (or, yeah, Favors would be best) next to Monroe would be more beneficial. I just don't want Joe to get the Pistons locked into any more long term mediocre deals. How long are Jefferson and Millsap's deals? |

: 0 For This Post 1 Total | Gordon would make a lot of sense next to Harris, who is a pretty awful shooter. Jefferson is only 26 and he's a helluva scorer and shotblocker, just not a great defender. We'd probably still be in line for a top ten pick in the draft. A line-up of Knight, Stuckey, Tay, Jefferson, and Monroe would be pretty fun to watch. We'd obviously need either a defensive big or a superstar-type swingman in the draft, but at least we'd have low post scoring sewn up. |

Sounds a bit have cake/eat it too. If the addition of Jefferson doesn't make us a playoff team, than a middling lottery pick added to him and the current core shouldn't excite anyone. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | That said, I'm all for moving Daye and or Gordon but not for Jefferson. 26 and supposedly an elite inside scorer and rebounder but who has been given up on by 3 teams, never been on a winner, has an injury history, and a terrible contract. Not touching that; no way. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | it's not like we'd be giving up much for him, and he's got a shorter contract than Gordon. Even as a stopgap, it's a good deal. It would help Monroe's development significantly if he had another big man that was able to take some of the offensive workload. Last edited by Kstat; 12-20-2011 at 12:35 PM. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | Daye at the 2 is a problem. He doesn't have the footspeed. Likewise, Jerebko is better defensively at the 3. He's a little light defending the post against bruisers. Knight Stuckey Tay Monroe and Big Ben is probably our best defensive unit. Last edited by Kstat; 12-20-2011 at 02:34 PM. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I think Daye can get away with his length. Hell, 3 feet away he can still bother a shot. His length is his best attribute on defense. Yes Stuckey is quicker but when he has to face the taller shooting guards, he gets exposed just as much as Daye does with quicker gaurds. So with Daye's Length thats all im saying. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | He can get away with it at the 3. At the 2, he's toast in transition. And Stuckey is stronger than most 2-guards and hard to post up. He also has very quick hands and creates a lot of turnovers. He rarely gets "exposed." |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | Well obviously we are not going to play the best defensive match up all game. I like Daye at the 2 when we need a stop based on the match up. His length on a tough match up to give the opposing guard different looks. But Daye could also punish his much shorter defender on offense. On Wade I like Stuckey there, on Kobe I like Daye there. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | I was with you until you said this: Kobe might drop 50 on Daye if you left him there. That would be humiliating. Kobe has both a significant speed and strength advantage on Austin. Daye at the 2 works if he's guarding a jumpshooter that isn't a very good ballhandler, but that's it. Any guard that can both shoot and slash will eat him alive, because he isn't fast enough to keep up, and he isn't strong enough to deal with guards that drive right into his chest to take his length advantage away. At the very least, Stuckey can fight Kobe for position in the post, and make him think twice about putting the ball too low. All he'd have to do to Austin is lower his shoulder and he'd have a good 5 feet of space to do whatever he wanted. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | It makes sense in that we need a veteran leader on the team if we want them to grow up faster. Tayshaun made sense once we dumped Rip. It doesn't work to have a whole team of 25 and under guys with no direction. We also don't have any stud SFs behind Tayshaun we need to develop. Austin Daye isn't important enough. : 0 For This Post 0 Total | We'll see how that changes now that he's the senior guy in the locker room and not Rip. Tayshaun was re-signed to be a locker room leader. That was made clear by Joe the day we brought him back. And yes, we DO need someone to do that job if we don't want to get stuck in the lottery for years to come because our guys aren't maturing fast enough. It would be a bonus for someone with experience to show them the ropes. Yes, we offered him 4 years, but he can still play. He's only 31. Last edited by Kstat; 12-20-2011 at 06:06 PM. |

Everyone always expects complete products to trot out immediately unto the floor and play like super star vets. To read some of the criticism, you'd think he was a huge cash FA signing that already played in All Star games somewhere else. |

He's just going to block Daye, and eventually Singler. The goal better be to trade him, but I have a feeling with Tay's talk about wanting to retire a Piston, that Dumars will be a fat loyal bastard and never trade him. |

In the meantime, Prince's locker room presence is necessary for this team to mature. We're already throwing Monroe and Knight into the fire. Someone needs to be around to hold everything together.
