Stuck looking good early. Getting to the line and even, gasp, finishing some.

Stuck has looked pretty damn good. Kid has his sea legs back.

Walker is pretty good in transition...he is just so tiny. His future is as Will Bynum's, smaller, slightly less expensive backup.

The last half of the quarter Portland got every rebound. Just dominated there. We're only down one after one, but there's no way we hang around without stopping them on the boards.

Stuck had a wicked dunk and finished with 10 points in the quarter. Also, we only had 2 turnovers and they were both charges (so no easy bucket for Portland).

It should be noted that this is the first time this season we've seen Suckey and Knight staring together. At least offensively, it's been a huge difference.

Walker is quality. He's better than Bynum at a minimum. Definitely plays to pass the ball.

Portland getting at least 2 shots at the basket every time down the floor. Can't believe we're ahead and allowing that many offensive rebounds.

Bad series by Russell. A turnover and then he left his man wide open. Still...he has been playing great.

... but we get to the line much more, that's (in part) why we are winning.

Also, finally the ball kind a goes in for us (on quite a few shots so far).
17 trips so far, made 14

We've lost it a couple times and gave Portland open lay ups, but by and large our defense has been very, very good so far.

Stuck indicates that his groin will be hurting him for the rest of the season.

Oh well. I guess it won't hurt the Pistons draft position if he is held out every few games.

What is wrong with Gordon and Bynum?

11 point halftime lead. We held them to 40% shooting, they made 1 three pointer, and only got to the line 7 times. That's a great defensive half. If we could rebound we'd be up by 20 something.

Stuckey is going off. Jonas got hot for a while. Knight played under control. Prince looks like he's going to have another 20 point game.

Jonas still can't rebound for shit, but at least he's offensively much more comfortable on the 2nd unit.

For that matter, so is Tayshaun....

Having two guards who can attack the paint is MUCH nicer than having Gordon in there. This is fun to watch. I like the future of team built around two guards who can initiate the offense, score, and attack the paint, and defend (just added that edit), PLUS, a big man who can do the same things from down low or the elbow.

It does make one think of eventually adding a 3rd guard who can do what Knight does. A 3 guard rotation of two guards like Knight, plus Stuckey, could be excellent for us. It's working nicely for Minnesota, btw.

Certainly, Knight has all the intangibles that Russell does not and has better size so he is better on defense and more likely to be successful when driving into the paint.

I like this combo a lot.

An area of concern -- Stuckey does not have lots of range and must rely on penetration. On the flip side, Knight can hit a 3. So, it looks like they may be able to complement each other well. I wonder how it will work in a long run, once we start making playoffs.

For the season, we have been a much better team with Stuckey playing. Even when he's not playing well he's able to settle the team down.

He is a good PG. Just not CP3. Given that one can expect Knight to be at Stuck's level by the end of the year from a PG perspective, it is best to move him to SG.

Two ball handlers who can attack seems to work for this team, especially considering the only other players that can score in the paint on a regular basis are Prince and Monroe.

I get (now) that Stuckey isn't a point guard. But he is a very good ballhandler, and he's always been excellent at not turning the ball over. (Tons of his turnovers come from him committing offensive fouls - which, IMO, really aren't turnovers). The thing with him and Knight in there is that if the defense takes away the first one's driving lanes, there's a good chance that a path to the other will allow the second one to penetrate into the lane with more room.

In the next couple of seasons, that, along with Monroe, is really going to pay off as the team learns to play the system and with each other - and of course as the talent base matures (a lot) and improves (a lot).

true!

given the number of our injuries, maybe those 3 wins do not look too bad. (naturally, given the number of ping pong balls we may receive, they look wonderful.)

Seems like Stuck worked on his shot this summer. His outside shooting has been much improved. He will have to do that as his career progresses. He can't bang inside the paint like he does now forever.

I'd agree with it.

There is no point in having 10 million dollar player coming off the bench.

Gordon has played well this season. He works in a 3 guard rotation.

But, Russell seems to be a better fit. Of course, we have no idea if Russell can do what he has done so far tonight on a consistent basis.

Please put Macklin in for Jonas. He has lost the Pistons 8 points in like 45 seconds.
