Basically every sex scene is a tool to keep us interested while they break down some part of the narrative. |

It's a shame it ended after 3 seasons. It needed one more final season to tie everything together. I'm pretty sure historically Deadwood burns in a massive fire. |

Was surprised at the great chemistry that the dude from Saved By the Bell and homeboy from Garfield had. Perfect delivery of some pretty tricky humorous dialogue. And Malcolm McDowell, great as always. |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | If you can get through the terrible first few episodes of Spartacus, it's worth it. Everything from episode 5 and on is great. The prequel season was fantastic as well. The next season will be really interesting. There are some big question marks that make me worry about the quality dropping off.
First of all, recasting the lead actor is always risky. Andy Whitfield grew into the role well, and having a new Spartacus will be tough to get used to. Also, moving out of the setting of the ludus into guerilla warfare will give the show a much different feel. It was always great seeing two guys go head to head in the arena. But most of all, losing out on the Batiatus character is going to be the biggest blow to the series. As much as Spartacus is the title character, the show was really about the house of Batiatus, and John Hanna played that role to perfection. Without him as the anchor, it will be tough to retain that same level of quality. I hope the writers can find another actor to fill that role, because he stole every scene.
|

(expect me now to include quotes of this show in my posts) I must admit that this is the best US Television series ever made. Omar is the best character ever created as well. I know...I know...I'm like 3 years late on this... |

That was the one thing I would have liked to see, more of the storyline focused on Avon. I guess with so many characters and with wanting to try new angles...they just didn't have more camera time for him... | |

HBO star: I was a homeless gay hooker - Entertainment - Television - TODAY.com Thomas Jane picked up a few tricks of the trade before he was cast on HBO's gigolo drama "Hung." The 42-year-old tells The L.A. Times that as a struggling 18-year-old actor, he often performed sexual acts with other men in order to pay the bills. "As James Dean said, you're going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don't accept people's sexual flavors," Jane explains. PHOTOS: Stars' funny first jobs "When I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless. I didn't have any money and I was living in my car," the actor recalls. "I wasn't averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?" VIDEO: Another celebs' secret stripper past Jane adds that the experience "blew the doors off my conventional upbringing" and opened him up to new possibilities. "You're a lot more open to experimentation as a young man," he tells The L.A. Times. "And for me, being a young artist and broke in Los Angeles, I was exploring my sexual identity." The actor -- whose former wives include Aysha Hauer and Patricia Arquette -- doesn't regret his decision to dabble in same-sex relations.PHOTOS: Celebrity LGBT allies "Until you've tasted the food, you don't know whether you'll like it or not, as my mom always said," he says. : 0 For This Post 1 Total | Yeah, I did. Good stories, long. I could have skipped some of the endless descriptions of meals. Lamprey pie, anyone? But great characters and the kind of yarn where you feel really invested. I'm less keen on some of the supernatural stuff. But I really appreciated the character development. Jaime becomes so much more complex. You never actually like him but you sure do understand him better. I thought that some of the wandering around the free cities and the endless machinations of the court around Danaeris was too long. But overall, a great set of fun stories. |

I still plan on having it read before Season 2 airs. Of course, I don't have HBO right now so watching is also going to be a challenge.

You can't beat the weather, but I definitely miss being in a condensed city like Chicago. LA is way too sprawling. I'll probably be out here for a while though, because my job is good and there's a lot of room for growth. Overall it's been a solid 7/10 so far, which is not bad for the first 6 months. |

: 0 For This Post 1 Total | Soul-crushing is a great way to describe the traffic. Commuting in NY can be somewhat lengthy too but it's still about 60% less time-consuming than LA. Aside from the occasional looney, taking the subway is pretty easy. If LA ever had a true rail system (other than downtown to Burbank and even that shuts down overnight), that would be a huge plus.

Also, Luck the Dustin Hoffman HBO show from the Deadwood guy just got cancelled because they kept killing horses during it (or they used that as an excuse because few people were watching). |

: 0 For This Post 0 Total | Homeland is excellent. Very intelligent, lots of tension. Claire Danes does an amazing job with her role. You won't regret watching it. Walking Dead is pretty mediocre. The characters aren't particularly interesting, and some of the decisions make your head scratch. It's definitely improved since the terrible first season, but it's still not much more than a typical zombie show. In a few weeks Mad Men and Game of Thrones will both be back. Now that's a hell of a combo. |
